Led research and stakeholder engagement to understand barriers and opportunities for African smallholder participation in carbon markets, translating complex sector insights into actionable recommendations for donors, policymakers, and development institutions.
Outcomes delivered
Engaged 80+ stakeholders and conducted 25+ interviews across carbon certification bodies, farmer organizations, NGOs, project developers, and development finance institutions in East and West Africa.
Produced a Phase I scoping report identifying opportunities to expand participation in carbon markets, including livestock-specific financing models, participation pathways, and high-potential country markets.
Published a policy brief through CGIAR, providing guidance to ministries, donors, and development partners on scaling climate finance for smallholder livestock producers.
